Ogden baking supply store, open since 1973, teaching bread, pizza, pasta and chocolate
Kitchen Kneads is a family-owned baking supply store at 3030 Grant Ave in Ogden. It has sold flour, bulk chocolate, grain mills and Bosch and Ankarsrum mixers since 1973. It added cooking classes in 1995, and they still follow what's on the shelves: bread, pizza, pasta and chocolate.
Classes take place in the store's teaching kitchen. Groups run from 8 to 16 people, sessions last two to four hours, and all skill levels are welcome. This fall the calendar is built around the Test Kitchen, with dates like Fresh Flour Day, Holiday Rolls Live and Holiday Cookie Dough Day. Through December 24 the store also runs free 20-minute demos. You can try the mixers and grain mills side by side with a staff member, and you don't have to buy anything.
It's a good fit for home bakers who want to make bread in bigger batches or try milling their own flour before buying the equipment. Parking is free. To be eligible for a refund, cancel at least 48 hours before class.
