Fort Worth caterer's evening risotto, paella and cocktail classes on Grand Ave
Magdalena's is a family-owned Fort Worth catering and events company. Chef Juan Rodriguez founded it with his wife Paige. Cooking classes run alongside its catering, food truck and supper club. Rodriguez learned to cook from his grandmother Magdalena in Monterrey, Mexico. He later spent more than eight years at Reata, where he became executive chef.
Classes run in the evening at the company's home base, 502 Grand Ave, and you buy tickets per person. Recent sessions included a hands-on Risotto Cooking Class and a Paella & Tequila class, where you cook your own paella from start to finish and mix a tequila cocktail to go with it. The End of Summer Spritz Cocktail Class paired spritz-making with a chef-prepared Italian-style dinner of bruschetta, arancini, flatbreads and Italian wedding cake.
The class schedule is short and changes with the seasons, so check what's on before you make plans. The paella class needed no previous cooking experience. If you like the food, the same team also runs a five-course supper club and caters weddings and corporate events.
