Cookware store kitchen at The Shops at Farmington Valley, cooking at stations of four
Sur La Table's Canton store runs its cooking classes in a teaching kitchen inside the shop at The Shops at Farmington Valley. You cook hands-on at a shared, fully equipped workstation with up to three other guests. A chef instructor leads the class, and your group shares the dishes family-style. You get generous tasting portions rather than full entrées, and the recipes arrive by email so you can cook them again at home.
The calendar leans seasonal. Rustic Homemade Breads covers yeast dough from kneading to proofing as you make a roasted vegetable focaccia, ciabatta and herb butter. Cut Like a Pro is all knife skills. Cast Iron: From Braising to Baking is taught with Le Creuset. Date nights include Autumn in Italy, a French Countryside Evening and a Cozy Autumn Steakhouse. Other menus run from Perfect Stuffed Pasta to Savoring Spain and Filipino Favorites.
Most classes last 2 to 2½ hours and are for ages 14 and up. Families can try a Family Fun session such as Halloween Cookies.
