Nonprofit culinary job training for youth and people seeking a fair chance
The Chef Jeff Project is a 501c3 nonprofit in North Las Vegas. It isn't a recreational cooking school. It's a culinary, hospitality and life skills training program for disenfranchised youth, formerly incarcerated people and anyone seeking a fair chance at work. Training pairs kitchen skills and hands-on food service experience with soft skills, professional communication, conflict resolution and time management.
Founder Jeff Henderson learned to cook while serving nearly ten years in prison. He later ran kitchens as executive chef at major hotels and resorts. His story has been featured on Oprah's Life Class, Good Morning America and the Today Show. He runs the project with co-founder Stacy Womack-Henderson, chef and youth trainer Jeffery Henderson Jr., and program manager Noel Womack-Henderson.
The core training and community service program is temporarily suspended. The organization has announced cooking MasterClasses and Workforce Development workshops for this fall. Dates and registration details had not yet been posted.
