Chef’s studio · North Royalton, OH
Olive oil expert Jennifer's North Royalton studio for French pastry and Sicilian baking
Buttercream & Olive Oil is a culinary studio, bakehouse, café and boutique on W. 130th St. in North Royalton, open since 2014. Owner and educator Jennifer started out leading olive oil tastings and tours in Southern France. She has worked in olive oil mills and judged olive oil competitions. That background shows up everywhere, from the Olive Oil Discovery class to the olive oil lattes at the café.
There are more than two dozen classes, and most of them focus on French pastry and Sicilian baking. You make your own laminated dough in the three hour Croissants workshop and take home a dozen cookies from French Macarons. In Traditional Sicilian Cassata Cake you build a full 9 inch cake from the recipe Cleveland.com judged the best cassata in Cleveland. Several classes are fully gluten free, including French Classics Autrement and Venetian Petit Fours.
The studio cooks with local, seasonal and organic ingredients. From July through October, the Farmer's Table class is held at Richardson Farms and includes a farm tour. Private group classes run every day except Friday.
