Chef’s studio · Bucktown, Chicago
Private French cooking and baguette classes for groups, led by Paris-trained Chef Vincent
Cook Au Vin is Chef Vincent's French catering and cooking class business. He trained in Paris, moved to Chicago in 2004, and also runs the café-bakery La Boulangerie & Co. Groups book classes privately. You can't buy a single seat. The 3-hour culinary classes take 8 to 12 people at the La Boulangerie & Co Wilson kitchen in Ravenswood. The Bread Class runs at the Bucktown kitchen commissary.
A culinary class opens with an apéritif of fresh bread and cheese. Everyone gets a personalized cap and apron. Then the group splits up the tasks, cooks the menu together and sits down to eat it in the dining area. The Bread Class teaches La Boulangerie's Tradition Baguette and sourdough, and you finish with cheese and charcuterie. Groups of 14 to 20 can book a 4-hour team building class built around bite-sized appetizers.
The classes are BYOB, so bring a bottle or two. Classes cost $115 to $155 per person, plus tax and a 20% gratuity. Google reviewers rate it 4.2 from 34 reviews.
