Bettie's Chicago is a baking school in River North, at 853 N Larrabee St. It's decorated like a 1950s diner, with a real jukebox and Coke machine. The founder is Kristin Hoffman, known online as Baker Bettie. She's a trained chef and bestselling cookbook author who has made baking lessons for her website and YouTube channel since 2011. She opened the space in 2022.
Most weekly classes are about bread and pastry: sourdough, yeast breads, pies and French pastry. There are also savory cooking classes and date night events. Classes are built around as much hands-on time as possible, and Kristin explains the baking science behind each step. Most classes are for ages 16 and up, and you don't need any experience. General manager Audrey McCreedy also teaches every week.
Private parties can take up to 24 guests for a hands-on class. One option is Decorative Focaccia, which works like a sip and paint with dough. In summer there are three-day camps for teens aged 13 to 17. The school is rated 5 from 277 Google reviews.

No. Unless the class description says otherwise, every class is designed for all skill levels, including people who have never used a whisk.
Some public classes are BYOB and 21+, and the class notes will say so. Private events are BYOB for beer and wine only, and the team supplies glasses, openers and ice.
Tickets are final sale, non-refundable and can't be moved to another date. You can give or sell your ticket to someone else.
Up to 24 guests for a hands-on party class. Bigger groups can rent the space without the hands-on part. Buyouts start at $2,000 and include three hours in the space.
There's metered parking along Larrabee Street in front of the space, and a garage at 811 N Larrabee.
