St. Louis kitchen store since 1984, running 1,500 hands-on and demo classes a year
Kitchen Conservatory has been a St. Louis kitchen store and cooking school since 1984. It runs more than 1,500 classes a year in its kitchens at 9011 Manchester Road. Classes come in two styles. In hands-on classes you do the cooking. In demonstration classes you sit at the counter and watch a chef work. Menus are detailed and themed, from Raising the Risotto Game with Bob Colosimo of Eleven Eleven Mississippi to Fun. Frivolity. Fondue. with Matt Sassman.
Teachers are a mix of staff educators and local restaurant chefs. Baking is a real strength, with Macaron Mania, Croissants Are Total Flakes and Bake My Day, a three-week course with Dawn Meyer. Date Night for Couples classes are priced per couple, and Heir and a Parent classes pair a parent with a child.
Most single classes cost $55 to $80 per person. Popular classes sell out, and you can call the store to join the waitlist. Groups can book a custom class or party and plan the menu with a chef.
