Le Cordon Bleu trained Chef Rakhi teaches Indian and global menus in her own kitchen
Spice Girl on Tour is Chef Rakhi Bhandari's cooking class business, run from her home kitchen in Roscoe Village. Rakhi graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in Las Vegas, interned with Bobby Flay at Mesa Grill, and trained in Thai cooking at the Sheraton Bangkok and at Spice Route in New Delhi. Her grandmother and great grandmother both published cookbooks of their regional cuisine.
Classes are hands-on and run about 2.5 to 3 hours on weekday evenings. Indian food leads the menus. The Classic Indian Menu covers Dal Makhani and Butter Chicken, and a fully vegan Indian menu covers poori, chole and carrot halwa. She also teaches fresh fettuccine and beef ravioli, a French bistro dinner, poached salmon, Vietnamese phở and bánh mì, and flour tortillas with braised pork tacos.
Most bookings are small private groups with a minimum of four guests, and menus can be customized. She can also teach in your kitchen. Individuals can email to join a scheduled class. The school holds a 5 rating from 101 Google reviews.
