Week-long DC cooking camp for teens 12 to 17, built around global cuisine
Summer Culinary runs week-long cooking camps for teens ages 12 to 17. Its Washington, DC program draws on the city's global food scene. Students spend 10am to 6pm in a commercial kitchen. Each one gets a professional workstation and learns knife skills, savory cooking, global cuisine and plating from professional chef instructors. No experience is needed.
Mornings start with a chef demo, which might be knife work or rolling sushi, and students follow along. Afternoons are recipe sessions with dishes inspired by DC's embassy cultures and immigrant communities. The week ends with a light-hearted competition on the last day.
DC has two 2027 commuter sessions, July 20 to 24 and July 27 to 31. Tuition is $1,995 at the early-bird rate through January 4, 2027, and $3,150 after that. It covers breakfast, lunch and dinner, kitchen tools, a camp t-shirt and a digital recipe book. Students who enroll by June 1 also get an embroidered chef jacket. The camp has a 5-star Google rating from two reviews.
