Cookology is a recreational cooking school on the third floor of Ballston Quarter in Arlington. Owner Maria Kopsidas opened the 6,000 square foot space in 2019. It also houses her Metropolitan Culinary Arts Institute, a professional culinary program. Classes are hands-on unless they're marked as demonstration or chef's table. Chefs walk you through each recipe step by step, and you work with your own ingredients.
The week follows a pattern. Meatless Mondays cover plant-based cooking, Wine Down Wednesdays are about cooking with wine, and Friday is date night. Weekends focus on baking, pastry and technique. For more depth, there are six-week culinary boot camps. Kids start at ages 3 to 5 with Mommy/Daddy & Me. At 8 they begin knife skills with a 7-inch Santoku.
Corporate groups are a big part of what Cookology does. The Mystery Basket is an Iron Chef-style challenge for 10 to 90 cooks. Staff judge it and always pick a winner. Cookology holds a 4.6 Google rating from 178 reviews.

Nothing. The only requirement is closed-toe shoes. Comfortable clothing is suggested, and long sleeves are recommended but not required.

Kids' classes run from ages 3 to 18. The youngest start with Mommy/Daddy & Me at ages 3 to 5, and knife skills begin at age 8.
Use the Ballston Quarter garage, which you can enter from Glebe Road or N. Randolph. Park on level 3, 4 or 5, take the elevator to M3 and walk toward Macy's. Cookology is on the right.
Newly purchased gift cards don't expire. They can be used for kids' and adult cooking classes but not for parties or private events.
