Tablespoon Cooking Co. is a hands-on cooking school steps from Findlay Market in Cincinnati. Chef and owner Jordan Hamons trained at Midwest Culinary Institute, and every member of the teaching staff has worked in professional kitchens. You cook at a 1-person or 2-person station, then sit down to eat what you made. Each ticket includes two drinks from a full bar with craft cocktails, local beers, sommelier-picked wines and proper non-alcoholic options.
Menus change with the seasons. A recent month included hand-rolled pici with lemon cacio e pepe, truffle parmesan gnocchi, butternut squash risotto with arancini, Korean fried chicken with japchae, and chicken and chorizo paella. In Holiday Pies you make an all-butter double-crust apple pie and take it home to bake. The day before Thanksgiving, the Turkey Prep Party sends you home with a seasoned, ready-to-roast bird.
Classes usually run 12 to 16 guests and sell out fast. Each new month usually goes on sale on the third Thursday at noon. Groups of 6 or more can book a private event, from a 1.5-hour Lunch Break to a team risotto Competition.
