Taste Buds Kitchen State College is a kitchen studio at 331 Benner Pike, close to Penn State, Toftrees and Boalsburg. It is part of a national franchise that began with a cupcake birthday party in New York in 2007. Each location is independently owned. The brand calls itself a kids kitchen by day and an adult BYOB kitchen by night.
Adult classes and date nights start at $65. You cook a multi-course menu from scratch, then sit down to eat it. Every class is hands-on, and you work at shared group tables with other guests. Corporate team events and private parties use the same studio.
Much of the calendar is built for kids. Birthday parties cover ages 3 to 17. Younger kids make dishes like Pizza Perfection and Mermaid Cupcakes, and teens make handmade gnocchi and sushi. Summer camps run five days, three hours a day, with themes like Chocolate Factory and Culinary Travels. Registration for 2027 opens January 13. The kitchen is nut-free, but it is not free of other allergens.

The State College kitchen lists BYOB events. Where outside drinks are allowed, guests 21+ may bring beer, wine or bubbly. Hard liquor is not allowed, and alcohol is never allowed at kids' or family events.
Birthday parties are for ages 3 to 17, summer camps for ages 4 to 17, and kids and family classes for ages 2 to 17. Gingerbread house decorating is open to ages 2 and up.
All sales are final. You can reschedule a public class up to 5 days before it starts using the link in your confirmation email. You can also buy Class Protection at booking, which lets you cancel up to 5 hours before for a kitchen credit.
All menus are nut-free. They also offer vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free and vegan menus. The kitchen is not allergen-free for those ingredients, and individual changes to recipes can't be made.
