Queen Anne kids cooking school where students bring home dinner for 4 to 6
Rainy Day Dinner Club is a kids cooking school at 2400 Queen Anne Ave N in Seattle with a practical twist: the students cook the family dinner. In the weekly Dinner Club series, each child makes a main dish that serves 4 to 6. It goes home in oven-ready cookware with baking instructions. The first class is all knife skills, so that week students bring home a large house salad with a balsamic vinaigrette made from scratch.
Kids use real 6 to 8 inch chef knives and learn named techniques like the Claw & Saw. Lessons also cover the science behind ingredients. After-school groups serve 2nd to 5th graders, and a Monday Teen Dinner Club serves 5th to 8th graders. Some sessions include pickup from nearby schools.
Older cooks have options too. The Adult/Teen Dinner Club and Sunday Soup Club are open to ages 14 and up, with menus like Tom Kha with scallion pancakes. The school also runs Friday pasta workshops, holiday camps and Thanksgiving take-and-bake pie classes. It has a 5-star Google rating from 5 reviews.
