NaNoom is a Korean cooking school on Aurora Ave N in Seattle, run by Korean women instructors. The name means "sharing," and the classes work that way: you cook, swap stories and eat together. Founder Dr. Kay Park is a third generation holistic medicine doctor, so the menus lean toward food as medicine. Lead instructor Hyoung Yon Kim studied nutritional culinary science and teaches both traditional dishes and fusion recipes.
The class list is long and very specific. You can ferment your own gochujang, brew makgeolli alongside kimchi pancakes, fold mandu from scratch, or make samgyetang with cucumber kimchi. Comfort dishes like budae jjigae, sundubu jjigae and jjajangmyeon sit next to bulgogi, Korean BBQ short ribs and a Healing Korean Food and Tea class that covers temple food.
Most classes cost $125, and the full range runs from $95 to $175. The school also hosts private parties and team building events, plus a Taste & Talk Korean language class. It holds a 5.0 Google rating from 100 reviews.
