Hot Stove Society is the year-round cooking school from Tom Douglas's Seattle restaurant company, at 2000 4th Ave downtown. Classes come in two styles. Demo and Hands-On sessions, like Sushi 101 with Chef Simeon Park or Fresh Ramen @ Home with Chef Rasyidah Rosli, put you to work. Demo and Taste evenings, like the Coq au Vin date night with Chef Bridget Charters, let you watch and eat.
The calendar runs from Brunch Club bialys and homemade pita with school director Annie Elmore to Fall Filled Pasta and a soups and cocktails night with mixologist Julie Ross. The kitchen also hosts live recordings of the Hot Stove Radio Show. Google reviewers rate it 4.9 from 53 reviews.
Private and team events use set menus such as the Dumpling Challenge, Paella Party and Tom Douglas Classics, which features Etta's Rub with Love salmon. Up to 40 guests can cook a full hands-on event, or the group can relax and watch the chef. There are no refunds, but you can send someone in your place.
