Free hour-long livestream cooking classes that began in a West Seattle garage
Homemade is a free online cooking community, not a kitchen you visit. Chef Joel Gamoran started it in his West Seattle garage. He is a Culinary Institute of America grad who spent over a decade as Sur La Table's National Chef. Classes run about an hour as livestreams, most of them on YouTube, and each one is sponsored by a food brand such as the American Lamb Board, Dole or KitchenAid.
The chefs cook and you follow along at home. You get the recipe ahead of time so you can prep, then ask questions in the live chat. They don't go step by step and sometimes use shortcuts, so it feels more like an interactive cooking show than a lesson. Every class is saved for replay.
Upcoming menus are seasonal. Joel teaches Moroccan-Spiced Risotto with American Lamb Loin Chops, Chef Bonny teaches One Dough, Four Holiday Cookies, and Chef Nicco runs a Thanksgiving Leftover Turkey Ramen Mystery Basket. Some sessions are held inside members-only Cooking Clubs, which add exclusive recipes and giveaways. Google reviewers give it 5 stars across 36 reviews.

No. Cooking along is encouraged and is the best way to get your questions answered live, but you can also just watch and chat. The chefs don't go step by step and sometimes use swaps or shortcuts.
YouTube Live classes are open to everyone. Cooking Club classes run inside members-only clubs that each focus on one topic or skill, with exclusive recipes, giveaways and brand discounts.
