Dash of Soy is a small Asian cooking school in Georgetown, Seattle. Elaine Sher founded it in 2019. The chefs are an all-women, all-Asian team, and each one teaches the food she grew up with. Mikiko Yang teaches Japanese ramen, sushi and udon. Soy Dara teaches Lao and Thai, Jee Hye Kang teaches Korean, Winnie Au and Cindy Yuong lead Asian baking, and Elaine teaches Chinese.
Every class is hands-on, with no more than six students in the kitchen. The school offers more than 50 classes, from the Xiao Long Bao Workshop and Seoul Street Foods to a Lao Whole Duck Feast and a Mooncake Making Workshop. Many are vegan or gluten-free, and a few include a tour of an Asian market. In Make Your Own Udon, you knead the noodle dough with your feet.
Groups, birthdays and teams can book a private class from $165 per person, and online and hybrid options are available. The school has a 5.0 Google rating from 195 reviews. Street parking nearby is free.
