Waterfront Seattle kitchen known for Iron Chef team building and private dinner parties
Blue Ribbon Cooking is a Seattle catering and event company with a cooking school at its core. Vanessa Smith took over the school from her parents, Virginia and Mike Duppenthaler, in 2008. She runs it with her husband, executive chef Adam Smith. The big kitchen on Fairview Avenue East looks out over the marina, Gas Works Park and the Aurora Bridge.
Classes here are built for groups. Companies book team formats like Classic Iron Chef. Each team gets a chef instructor and a protein, then plans its own menu. Pike Place Iron Chef starts with an hour of shopping at the market. Sabotage Kitchen adds obstacles, and Happy Hour Iron Chef is a shorter appetizer contest. Friends and families can book a private cooking class dinner party around the butcher block for a birthday, shower or anniversary.
In summer, kids come for culinary camps that teach kitchen safety and technique. Google reviewers give it 4.5 stars from 164 reviews. Team and private formats are booked by the whole group, so contact the school to plan a date.
