Oklahoma City sushi rolling classes from chef Bryan Sekine, with a focus on sustainable seafood
Secrets of Sushi is the one-person teaching business of Bryan Sekine, a half-Japanese sushi chef in Oklahoma City. He started in 2008 at a local sushi bar. He spent three months washing dishes and making rice before he was allowed to handle fish. Regular customers soon asked him to roll at their private sushi parties, and he began running live training events in 2014.
His classes come with a point of view. Bryan teaches people how to roll sushi and also talks about sustainable seafood, so you leave knowing which fish are better choices to buy. Public classes go on the schedule at least a month ahead. You can also book a private class at the restaurant or in your own home.
Sake and beer are sold at the start of class, and you'll need ID to buy them. Seats are limited and the ingredients are bought ahead, so there are no refunds. You can move your spot to a future class or give your ticket to someone else. Google reviewers give it 5 stars across 11 reviews.
