A Cut Above is first a catering and events company. Owner and Executive Chef Amy and her team also teach cooking classes in their own instructional kitchen and event center on Old Meridian Street in Carmel. Class themes run wide: Small Plates, Cooking 101, Italian, Farm-to-Table, French, Spanish, Asian, Jamaican, Brunch, New Orleans, Plant-Based, Grilling, Mixology and KETO.
Every class follows the same plan. It opens with chef-made appetizers that match the theme. Then comes about an hour and a half of hands-on cooking with the chef. After that you sit down to eat what you made, and you go home with the recipes and prep tips. Expect 2 to 3 hours in total. Public classes hold 10 to 20 people and are for guests 21 and over.
For companies, the Final Cut Challenge is their signature team building event. Teams get a secret basket and have 40 minutes per round to cook an appetizer and an entree. Afterward everyone sits down to a chef-prepared dinner. Google reviewers rate A Cut Above 4.9 from 60 reviews.

Public classes hold 10 to 20 people. Private instructional parties need at least 10 people.

It's a Chopped-style team building contest. Teams use secret basket ingredients in an appetizer round and an entree round, 40 minutes each, and then share a chef-prepared dinner. It takes about 3 hours.
