EVENTO runs Italian cooking parties from a third-floor space at 171 Canal Street in Lower Manhattan. The idea is a party where you happen to make pasta or pizza. Each event opens with an Italian aperitivo. Then comes about an hour of hands-on cooking, and dinner is served seated or mingling style, with music the whole time.
Co-founder Andrea Belfiore grew up in Ancona, Italy, cooking Sunday afternoons with his Nonna Anna. He is also a Berklee graduate and touring drummer, which explains the dance parties on the calendar. The team includes pizzaiolo Gregory Schaad-Jackson, pastaia Sara Cagle and mixologist Sam Cook.
Public tickets cover themed nights like the Italo Disco Pasta Dance Party, a Pugliese Pasta Making Party and an Italian Friendsgiving. There are also weekend Brunch Italiano and Sunday Pranzo Club pasta sessions. Much of the business is corporate team building and private parties, either in person or online.
