Taste Buds Kitchen runs a kitchen studio on the 10th floor of 109 W 27th Street in Chelsea, close to Flatiron and Hudson Yards. It works as a kids kitchen by day and an adult BYOB kitchen by night. The brand started in New York in 2007, when founder Jessi Brelsford hosted a cupcake-making birthday party in a SoHo loft. It has since become a national franchise. The Chelsea kitchen holds a 4.8 Google rating from 1,293 reviews.
Adult classes and date nights start at $99. You cook a multi-course menu from scratch at shared group tables. Kids have the most options: family classes from $65, school break camps, and five-day summer camps with themes like Bakeshop, Culinary Travels and an Advanced Teen Camp for International Chefs. Birthday menus run from Pizza Perfection for ages 3 to 8 up to handmade gnocchi and Tasty Thai for teens.
The whole kitchen is nut-free, and some menus are gluten-free, dairy-free or vegan. All sales are final, but you can reschedule up to 5 days before class.
