Harvard MBA turned self-taught chef cooking grandma food at private San Diego events
Harvard Cookin' Girl is Bibi Kasrai's business. She left a corporate career with a Harvard MBA in 2009 and wrote The Spice Whisperer. She is self-taught and collects recipes from home cooks around the world. She calls her cooking "grandma food," not fancy plating.
The old La Jolla studio closed after Covid. Bibi now hosts small events in her home kitchen and runs corporate events at the California Culinary Arts Institute in downtown San Diego, all by appointment. When you book, she sends sample menus from France, Italy, Spain, Persia, India, Morocco, Japan and Thailand. You pick the cuisine and the number of courses. Then you spend about two hours cooking or watching, depending on the format, and everyone sits down to eat together.
Simply Delicious covers rustic home dishes. Simply Elegant covers restaurant classics and chef technique. Menus change with the seasons and can be adapted to dietary needs. Open public classes are rare now. Instead you can set up a monthly supper club for a group of 10 to 12. Google reviewers rate it 5 from 49 reviews.

Rarely. Open events happen only now and then, focused on one region's cuisine. Most events are private bookings, or you can set up a monthly supper club for a group of 10 to 12, which gets preferential pricing.
