Cooking school · Culver City, CA
Culver City school built around a 20-week cooking series and chef-led private events
Los Angeles Cooking School is a small, hands-on cooking school in the Arts District of Culver City. It has 26 years of teaching behind it and was once known as the New School of Cooking. Its main draw is the 20-Week Cooking Series, a course that builds week by week for home cooks who want real skills. Upcoming start dates include weekday mornings, weekday evenings and weekend mornings, and payment plans are available.
The instructors have real professional experience. Culinary program director Jess Hilton first came as a 20-week student in 2003. Pastry chef Richard Ruskell trained at the French Culinary Institute and ran hotel dessert programs. Chef Jamie Colboth-MacLeod learned biscuits in her grandmother's East Tennessee kitchen.
Private events run 2.5 to 3 hours in a commercial kitchen. Menus include Trattoria Italiano, Korean Street Food, Dinner with Julia Child and The Bear Experience, a fast-paced class built around restaurant-style teamwork. One reviewer noted each pair of guests had its own stocked station. The school holds a 4.4 Google rating from 49 reviews.
