PREP Cooking Classes is a small, family-owned cooking school and retail store in Seal Beach, run by owner Sydney Gavin. Every class is hands-on, and the calendar follows the seasons: sourdough and gluten free sourdough workshops, tamales, Vietnamese Classics, Julia Child Beef Burgundy, croissants and holiday pies. The chefs include Elizabeth Whitt, Stacy Horn, Dylan Watson and David Robles. Chef Elizabeth also hosts short wine tastings.
Most public classes cost $114 a seat. A few steak and Beef Wellington nights run $124 to $134. Kids get their own classes and two-day holiday camps, and the Parents & Kids class is $164. Some dates sell out, so book ahead. PREP has a 4.6 Google rating from 37 reviews.
Groups can book private parties or corporate events of two to three hours. Guests cook a set menu like Spanish Tapas & Paella or Tuscan Feast, then sit down to eat together. Corporate events are fully run for up to 50 people. Virtual Cooking Club members cook with a chef on Zoom each week.
