Private in-home and virtual lessons from State Fair Iron Chef winner Shankari Arcot
Kids & families
Sacramento Spice is the one-woman cooking business of Shankari Arcot. She has taught around Sacramento since 2006, including classes at the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op and Whole Foods. She also gives guest lectures to culinary students at American River College, and she won the Iron Chef competition at the California State Fair. She sells her own spice blends, including a Chai Masala, and her recipes lean on garam masala, curries and korma.
Classes are now private only. She comes to your home or teaches you over Zoom. Each class is built around you: she sets the menu, adjusts for dietary needs and lets you cook with your own stove and tools. Classes are fully hands-on.
Families make up a big part of her work. She runs kids' lessons on knife skills and kitchen safety, birthday parties for ages 6 and up, Girl Scout badge workshops and homeschool sessions. Parents often mention how patient she is. Adults can book team-building events, bridal showers, supper clubs and dinner parties.
