Stir Downtown is the LoDo kitchen of a Denver cooking school with two locations. It sits at 1801 Wynkoop St. Every class follows the same plan. You cook at a station with up to six people for about two hours while a chef demos each recipe. Then everyone eats on a mezzanine that overlooks the kitchen. The recipes arrive by email afterward. There's a full bar, and drinks are $2 off in the hour before class.
Classes range from fresh pasta and Thai curries to tamales, French classics and brunch. Baking classes teach the high-altitude adjustments you need at 5,280 feet. The instructors each have a specialty. Kate teaches the Thai and Szechuan classes, Camille teaches French, Marc loves bread and Italian, and Ariel grew up in New Mexico cooking with masa. Downtown also hosts the Culture to Cuisine series with WorldDenver.
Classes are for adults 18 and up. Private groups of 12 or more pay the regular per-person rate with no rental fee. The Downtown space holds up to 75 people for events. It has a 4.7 Google rating from 141 reviews.
