Culinary college · Louisville
Louisville career college whose culinary chefs teach small evening technique classes to the public
Sullivan University is a career-focused college in Louisville, with a second campus in Lexington. Culinary Arts is one of its degree programs. It also runs community culinary classes, where a professional chef teaches the public the same foundational methods used in professional kitchens.
The classes are hands-on and focus on technique. Soup: From Broth to Bisque is a 2-hour class covering stocks, aromatics, thickening, puréeing and finishing across clear soups, cream soups, chowders and bisques. Kitchen Desserts: Sweet Finishes Made Simple runs 3 hours. It covers custards, creams, fruit preparations, sauces and simple baked desserts, then ends with plating and garnishing. The pitch is impressive desserts without needing to be a pastry chef.
Classes start at 6:00 PM on Wednesdays and take 7 to 15 people. Registration closes about a week before each class. The university holds a 3.6 Google rating from 134 reviews, which covers the whole school and not only the cooking classes.

No. The dessert class is built on foundational techniques rather than complicated pastry methods, and it promises the confidence to make desserts without being a pastry chef.
Each community class takes 7 to 15 participants.
The soup class is 2 hours and the dessert class is 3 hours. Both start at 6:00 PM.
Each class has a registration deadline about a week ahead. For the November 4 dessert class it was Thursday, October 29.
A professional chef leads each class.
