Chef Robbie Rensel's seven-kitchen River Oaks venue for workshops and Iron Chef teams
The Luxury Tree House is a chef-led event venue at 1324 W. Clay St. in River Oaks. Chef Robbie Rensel and owner Mandy Rensel run it. Robbie is CIA-trained and has more than 20 years of event experience. You cook at one of seven residential kitchen stations, so each person or team works in a real home-style kitchen.
Public classes start at $100 plus tax. The calendar has included hands-on knife skills, taco and salmon workshops. Knife skills comes with bites and drinks, and the taco and salmon workshops end with the lunch you cook. Chef's table date night works differently. It is a hosted five-course dinner, not a class.
Much of the business is corporate. In the Iron Chef format, each team gets a secret ingredient and one hour to make an entrée with two sides, then presents it to judges. It starts at $250 per person. Private group classes start at $200 per person. One-on-one instruction starts at $1,500, with a three-class minimum. The venue has a 5 rating on Google from 3 reviews.
