Sur La Table's Houston store is in River Oaks Shopping Center at 1996 West Gray. Its teaching kitchen runs hands-on classes. You cook in a group of four at a shared, fully equipped workstation while a chef instructor leads the room. Then you eat what you made, family-style. Portions are tastings, not full entrées, and the recipes arrive by email afterward. Standard classes run 2 to 2½ hours and take up to 20 people.
The fall calendar leans French and baked. Look for The Art of the Croissant: Sweet and Savory, Decadent Autumn Macarons, Rustic Homemade Breads and From the French Kitchen. Date night menus include a Cozy Autumn Steakhouse and a French Countryside Evening. There is also a Family Fun Halloween Cookies session and a Coffee Like a Pro class. Public classes start at $49 per person.
The store also hosts private classes for up to 20 guests, including corporate team building. On Google it has a 4.8 rating from 1,060 reviews.
