Sur La Table at 326 King Street in Alexandria is a kitchen store with a teaching kitchen inside. Classes are hands-on. You cook at a shared workstation in a group of four with a chef instructor guiding you. Then you eat the dishes family-style and get the recipes by email. Most classes run 2 to 2½ hours, and specialty baking classes run up to 3. Classes are capped at 20 people, and in-store classes start at $49 per person.
Private classes work for birthdays, friend groups and corporate team building. Menus can be adjusted for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and allergy needs. Team events can add competition, teamwork or mystery elements. The company also runs live online classes on Zoom, starting at $49 per household.

In-store classes start at $49 per person, and the price depends on the type of class. Private events start at $90 to $160 per person, depending on menu and guest count.
Most classes are for ages 14 and up, and minors must come with a paying adult. Some classes are 18+, and the class page will say so.
If you cancel 48 or more hours before class, you can choose a full refund, a virtual gift card or an exchange into another class. With less notice there are no refunds, but you can send someone in your place.
Wear casual clothes you don't mind getting messy and flat, closed-toe shoes. Tie back long hair. Aprons are provided, and you will be standing the whole time.
