Chef Leo's Food Lab is a small cooking studio at 4419 E Main St in Mesa, run by Leo Hudson. Leo is the son of a dietitian and the only employee, so you cook with him directly. Classes hold about 8 to 10 guests and sell out fast. New schedules go up on the 10th of each month.
Each class builds a five-course menu from scratch with fresh ingredients. You split an easy recipe with a partner at a station set up with tools, and Leo walks you through the steps. Then everyone sits down to a family style dinner. The kitchen uses residential equipment, so the dishes are easy to repeat at home. Recent listings include a Spooky Supper at $75 and a Guadalupe Chef's Academy collaboration with the Guadalupe on Main.
Private parties and corporate team building events take 8 to 16 guests, with group rates from $65 per guest. Groups can choose a laid back class or a Chopped round built around a secret ingredient. The studio holds a 5.0 Google rating from 64 reviews.

Yes. The kitchen has multiple stovetops and ovens, and you split an easy recipe with a partner. The class makes enough for everyone and shares a family style meal at the end.
Yes. You can bring an alcoholic drink to have with your meal. Water and iced tea are provided.
Children age 10 and up are welcome with adult supervision, because the class moves at a quick pace and uses knives and heat.
With at least 7 days' notice you can switch classes or get a refund minus a 5% processing fee. There are no refunds or credits within 24 hours, and no-shows get nothing back, but you can transfer your seat to someone else.
Use the request form with your date, group size and start time. Groups run from 8 guests (Tuesday and Wednesday) or 10 (Friday and Saturday) up to 16, with rates from $65 per guest. Book at least six weeks ahead.
