Cooking school · Phoenix, AZ
Small Phoenix home cooking school run by Maggie Norris, a Food Network alum
Whisked Away is Maggie Norris's cooking school in Phoenix. It started in 2009, when a group of neighbors asked her to teach a class at her home. Maggie trained at Scottsdale Culinary Institute and worked at the Food Network in New York with chefs like Mario Batali and Emeril. She later spent years as a regional chef for Dacor appliances. She also appears on Your Life Arizona and runs a summer kids' camp.
Public classes have a set menu and date. Anyone can sign up, and they're usually about $60. Private parties and team builders are hands-on, so everyone cooks together. You pick the date and choose a menu from her list. Companies such as Intel, Starbucks and American Express have booked team events.
Classes take place in a permit-exempt home kitchen, not a commercial space. The school has a 5-star Google rating from 9 reviews. Past students mention date nights with friends and say beginners and experienced cooks both pick up new skills.
