Hands-on classes in the Kierland Commons Sur La Table store, cooking at four-person stations
Sur La Table Scottsdale runs cooking classes in a teaching kitchen inside its cookware store at Kierland Commons. A professional chef instructor leads each session. You cook in a group of up to four at a shared workstation stocked with the tools and ingredients, then sample a generous portion of everything you make and take the recipes home.
The schedule leans on Italian cooking, baking and core technique. Rustic Homemade Breads is a two-hour beginner class on yeast dough, kneading and proofing. You shape a roasted vegetable focaccia and a rustic ciabatta and make herb butter to go with them. Skills classes include Cut Like a Pro and a Le Creuset cast iron class that runs from braising to baking. Evenings bring Date Night menus like Autumn in Italy and French Countryside Evening, plus Perfect Stuffed Pasta and a Four-Course Tuscan Dinner.
Classes here start at $69 per person and usually run 2 to 2½ hours. Most are for ages 14 and up, and family sessions such as Halloween Cookies bring in younger cooks. Private and corporate events are also offered.
