Team building with a chef running the room
L'Academie is a small baking and cooking school on E Guadalupe Rd in Gilbert. Chef Paul runs it, and it is now marking four years. Classes are hands-on at your own station and usually last two hours. There are late-morning and evening sessions during the week, plus weekend mornings. Chef Paul talks you through the dish and demonstrates when needed. Then you cook, and you take home what you make.
Fresh egg pasta is the backbone of the calendar. Many dinner classes pair hand-rolled fettuccini with a main dish such as Chicken Parmesan or Shrimp Scampi, and Date Night classes run most weekends. Baking gets equal time: croissants in three varieties (plain, chocolate, ham and cheese), sourdough, cinnamon rolls and macarons. A five-part Learn To Cook Series covers the basics for anyone whose kitchen skills feel shaky.
Families can book Mom or Dad & Me classes on Saturday mornings. During school breaks there are drop-off Kids Can Cook camps for ages 8 to 14. Teams and families can also book private events using the regular class menu. Google reviewers rate it 4.9 from 137 reviews.

Most regular classes are for ages 14 and up. Under-14s must come with an adult. Mom or Dad & Me classes are built for parent and child, and each needs a ticket. Kids Can Cook drop-off camps for ages 8 to 14 run during school breaks.
There are no refunds once you book. Email at least 3 business days before class to get a credit, which is good for 3 months. You can also send someone in your place if you let the school know 24 hours ahead.
Yes. Bring your own take-home containers, because the school does not provide them.
Just yourself. The school supplies all food, recipes and tools, and an apron if you ask for one. Wear closed-toe shoes with slip-resistant soles.
Yes. Teams and families can pick any menu from the regular classes or customize one, and one-on-one or small group lessons are available. Contact Chef Paul to arrange it.
