Chef Michael Feker's demo kitchen beside IL MITO, built for private dinners and groups
Chef Michael Feker's cooking studio sits next to his restaurant, IL MITO Trattoria e Enoteca, on West North Avenue in Wauwatosa. He added it in 2008 as the School of Culinary Magic, also called the Chef's Counter. The kitchen has Kohler, Wolf and Sub Zero equipment. Feker trained in classical French cooking at the California Culinary Academy, opened the first IL MITO in Studio City in 1990, and has a Sunday cooking show, "Our Dinner Bell," on WISN.
Most events are demonstrations. You sit at the counter while Feker cooks a multi-course meal and explains the food chemistry behind it. Corporate Cooking is the exception. Teams cook in groups under his direction and then eat what they made. Group events like Culinary Night Out and Corporate Cooking take 8 to 24 guests.
Individuals have two options. The Gourmet Wine Tasting is open enrollment: a three-course dinner served while a sommelier talks through the wine pairings. Private lessons run one hour at noon on Saturdays, for one person or a couple. The school has a 5-star Google rating from 3 reviews.

Yes. Chef Feker gives one-hour private lessons on Saturdays at 12pm, for one person or a couple. Email specialevents@ilmito.com to book. The Gourmet Wine Tasting is also open enrollment.
Mostly you watch. At most events Chef Feker cooks and explains as he goes. Corporate Cooking is hands-on, and Culinary Night Out can include a hands-on activity.
Dinner parties, Corporate Cooking and Culinary Night Out take 8 to 24 guests. Regions of the World Tasting takes 8 to 30. Cocktail parties hold 20 to 45 guests.
You pick the topic. It can be a simple recipe, a fine dining entree, a cooking technique, a family recipe you want to get right, or a healthier version of a favorite dish.
Some events are built around them. The Gourmet Wine Tasting brings in a sommelier. Chemistry of Food and Beer pairs the meal with craft beers. Culinary Night Out has an optional wine pairing.
