The Chef's Table is a private dining restaurant and event venue in a renovated warehouse in Milwaukee's Fifth Ward. You find it behind a locked door with no sign. Owner and executive chef David Magnasco opened it in 2014. He trained in regional Italian cooking and wine at the Italian Culinary Institute in Costigliole d'Asti, Piedmont, and has more than 30 years in professional kitchens.
Public cooking classes cost $139 per person, with a 6pm arrival. You get a featured cocktail, an apron and a recipe book for the night. In the kitchen you learn knife skills and fine dining tips while you prep the menu. Then everyone sits at the Grand Table for dinner with wine pairings. You decide how much to do. Some guests roll pasta or debone fish, and others watch with a glass of wine. A cash bar runs during the kitchen portion.
Groups can book private hands-on classes with themes like Pasta Making, French Bistro or Steaks & Sauces. Mystery box competitions and wine seminars are also on offer. Guests rate it 4.8 from 169 Google reviews.
