Strip District Italian bakery teaching pizza, bread, sauce and pie, plus monthly dinners
Enrico Biscotti is a small Italian bakery and café in Pittsburgh's Historic Strip District, known for oversized, hand-cut biscotti. Everything is made on site by hand, and the same space hosts a monthly lineup of classes and dinners. Larry's recipe collection, My Black Book, gives a sense of the bakery's style, from almond macaroons to sweet ricotta pie.
Classes are scheduled month to month and stick to Italian cooking and baking basics: the Neapolitan Pizza Class, Bread Making Class, Sauce Making Class and, ahead of the holidays, Holiday Pie Making. Each costs $100. Alongside them are social meals: the First Friday Dinner and the Big Italian Throw-down Dinner at $90 to $100, and Enrico's Brunch at $65 to $70. If a date won't let you register, it has likely sold out.
The café also books private dinners for showers, birthdays, rehearsal dinners and business gatherings. Most are five courses of traditional Italian food made with ingredients from Strip District vendors, for up to 22 seated guests. Private events are BYOB.
