WSU Tech - NICHE

NICHE, the National Institute for Culinary and Hospitality Education, is WSU Tech's culinary campus at 124 S. Broadway in downtown Wichita. Its main job is training cooks. Students in the two-year associate program log over a thousand hours of kitchen lab time. They also work shifts in the Envision Bistro, the Food Hall, catering and events. NICHE hosts what it calls the world's first culinary program for blind and visually impaired students.

NICHE also runs ticketed events and workshops for the public. Its classically trained culinary faculty teach them in the school's professional kitchens. Topics lean toward the less common, like spice blending and food preservation. Events come and go through the year, so check the calendar before you plan around a date.

Tickets are non-refundable, but you can transfer yours to someone else. NICHE may reschedule or cancel a class if too few tickets sell. Any event with alcohol is 21 and over. NICHE holds a 4.7 Google rating from 16 reviews.
