Green Apron Kitchen is a scratch-cooking studio at 7122 Bay Parkway in Brooklyn. A chef, food writer, teacher and mom founded it. It began as a kids' cooking class, and kids are still most of what it does: parent-and-me classes from age 3, drop-off classes from age 5, mini camps, birthday parties and school field trips like a one-hour pizza dough class.

Adults have a smaller lineup of hands-on classes, and most of them are BYOB. Coming up are a Sourdough Bread Making Class ($95) and Pumpkin Bloom: Baking and Making ($125). Earlier events included a Mozzarella Making Dinner and a Flavors of Fall pumpkin class. Classes cover beginners through more advanced cooks. Kids go home with the recipes, and over repeat classes they build up their own cookbook.

The studio also hosts girls' nights out, office parties and private one-on-one lessons, and its chefs travel for in-home parties. It holds a 4.4 Google rating from 102 reviews.
