Family-run Staten Island kids' cooking school with Thursday classes and holiday Saturdays
Kidz R Cookin' is a children's cooking school at 32 Marvin Road in Staten Island. Owners Richard and Karen Steinmetz started it in their home in 2007, cooking with their daughter's friends. It grew into after-school classes, birthday parties and Girl Scout meetings where girls earn cooking badges. The focus is healthy choices, measuring, knife skills and cooking from scratch.
The main class runs Thursdays from 4 to 6:15 PM for kids 5 and up, and the menu changes every month. October brought Pasta alla Norma with cannoli dip, pumpkin ravioli in butter sage sauce, and air fryer beef taquitos. Once a month there's a Saturday holiday class from 1 to 4 PM, capped at 15 children. Next up are Thanksgiving Pies & Sides on November 21, then three December classes: struffoli, a gingerbread house and Christmas cookies.
Group classes cost $50 per child. Toddlers aged 2 to 4 can book Thursday morning classes by appointment, and private lessons start at $140. The school has a 5-star Google rating from one review.

Thursday afternoon classes are for kids 5 and older. Toddler classes for ages 2 to 4 run Thursdays from 11 AM to 1 PM by appointment. Private lessons are open to ages 5 through adult.
Group classes cost $50 per child. Two siblings pay $90, and a package of four classes costs $180.
