Little Fox Kitchen is a small cooking studio in downtown Cranford, a three-minute walk from the train station. Founder Melanie Cecilio spent over nine years as a chef instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York. Lead chef instructor Michael Pineiro has cooked at Eleven Madison Park and Minibar. Baker Jenny Belliveau of A Butter Life teaches as a guest chef.
Classes are hands-on, not demos. You chop, season and mix with a chef guiding you, then everyone sits down at a long table to share the meal. Most classes top out at 14 to 15 people. Recent classes include Sourdough Bread and Starter, Handmade Pasta, Sushi, Mexican Taqueria, Cook Italy: Florence and In the French Kitchen. Public classes run about $96 to $150 per person.
Classes are for adults, though some let teens 14 to 17 join. You can bring wine or beer. There are no refunds, but you can send someone in your place. The studio also runs in-person corporate events and virtual classes with ingredient kits shipped across the U.S. and abroad. It holds a 4.7 Google rating from 36 reviews.

Yes. Classes are designed for novices and people with no cooking experience, and the chef instructors guide you through each step.
Yes, you can bring your own wine or beer. It gets opened toward the end of class when you sit down to eat. Spirits and liquor are not allowed.
There are no refunds or credits, but you can send someone in your place. Let the studio know by email at least 2 days before the class.
Dishes are cooked and served family style, so the menu can't change and there are no substitutions. The team tries to leave an ingredient out of individual portions when that's possible.
The studio is a three-minute walk from Cranford Station on NJ Transit's Raritan Valley line, and about five minutes by car from the Garden State Parkway. Search Little Fox Kitchen on Google Maps, which points to 4 South Union Ave.
