Team building with a chef running the room
Hone-Sharpen calls itself a culinary guild. It sits at 516 N West St in Downtown Raleigh's Smoky Hollow district. Classes come in three tiers. Night Out sessions are relaxed, show-style evenings at the chef's island. You can help chop and stir or just watch, then everyone sits down to eat. Next Level goes deeper into technique, and Culinary Intensive is for people thinking about a cooking career.
The fall calendar is short and practical. Chef Josh Szklinkski teaches a two-hour pasta workshop. Hour-long knife skills sessions include a Thanksgiving chicken breakdown. There's also an apple pie class, plus harvest dome cakes with guest baker Randi Smith of Sugar Euphoria. Public classes run $55 to $125.
Private events are a big part of what they do. Options range from a mingling reception for up to 75 guests to a hands-on, multi-course cooking session for up to 35. Garlic Bay, a sandwich counter inside the building, is handy for lunch before an afternoon class. The studio holds a 5 rating from 21 Google reviews.
