Classes and camps for young cooks
Tucson Village Farm is an urban teaching farm that started in 2010. It runs 4-H youth programs, farmers markets and school field trips. Its cooking classes are farm to table and take place at the Angel Charity for Children Culinary Education Center, the farm's teaching kitchen. There are two tracks: youth cooking classes, and adult cooking classes and workshops. A recent adult listing was an evening Kombucha Workshop.
Chef Becky Yim leads the kitchen side. She has a restaurant background and more than ten years of teaching culinary education to teens. Her strength is turning vegetables into dishes kids actually want to eat, and recipes they can make again at home. Staffer Jess Bell also leads a Culinary Medicine camp for teens each year.
This is a good pick for families who want kids to see where food comes from before it reaches the plate. Adults who like seasonal, garden-driven cooking will also feel at home. Classes are booked through Eventbrite and also appear on the farm's Events calendar.
