Cuisine Classique is a family-owned cooking school in Northwest Tucson. Tucson native Mardi Burden runs it with her husband Bob. Mardi is the head chef, and she brings experience from restaurant kitchens and large catering events. Classes are intimate and focus on personal attention. You cook a full meal and then sit down to eat it. The school has a 5-star Google rating from 10 reviews.
Adult classes run several times a week. Recent evenings include Tuscan Grilled Salmon and Grilled Duck Breasts. Weekend workshops cover knife skills, sausage making and tamales, and the holidays bring Italian, French and Tucson Christmas Eve menus. New cooks can start with Basics of Gourmet Cooking, a seven-week series that mixes lectures, demos and hands-on classes. Sign up for the full series and you get a free three-piece knife set. You can also drop in to single classes.
Summer is for kids and teens. Weeklong camps for younger children run alongside teen camps themed on French, Asian and Italian cuisine.
