Downtown Greenville kitchen store with a café, wine bar and a busy teaching kitchen
The Cook's Station is a family-owned kitchen store on Buncombe Street in downtown Greenville. The family has run it for over 30 years, and it has a café, a wine bar and a teaching kitchen under one roof. Some classes are hands-on and others are demonstrations. The calendar is full, with classes on most weeknights and on many mornings and afternoons.
Most evening classes cost $90 and focus on one cuisine or dish, such as Indian, Thai, Puerto Rican, gnocchi or risotto. Bakers can make babka with Chef Ron Rawhoof, or try focaccia or pumpkin pound cake. One-hour Lunch and Learns like Truffle Mac and Cheese or Carbonara cost $35. Chef dinners run $105 to $125, including a five-course wine pairing with Chef Craig Kuhns.
The chefs have real kitchen experience. Craig Kuhns trained in Charleston fine dining under Ken Vedrinski. Stuart Christoff cooked in Michelin-starred kitchens in Hong Kong and Bangkok and is known for sushi. Tazia Young graduated from Greenville Technical College and loves European, African and Caribbean food. New classes go live on the 1st of each month, and popular ones sell out.
