Seasonal Italian pasta classes led by Sicilian-born Deborah Quinci in the Short North
Beginners
No experience needed
Quinci Emporium is an Italian market, wine shop and cooking school at 11 Buttles Ave. in the Short North. Deborah Quinci was born and raised in Sicily, and she opened the shop with business partner Connie Klema in 2016. She leads the classes from her chef counter. She walks the group through one recipe step by step and tells stories about the food and where it comes from.
Menus change with the season and focus on fresh pasta and regional dishes. Recent classes include Lasagna Cacio e Pepe, Crown of Ravioli del Plin with Mushroom Ragù, Duck Ragù with Pappardelle Ruvide, Ligurian Classic Minestrone & Focaccia, and a December Holiday Dolci class. Groups usually run 6 to 10 people, and you take home a printed recipe.
Every class costs $95. Wine is sold by the bottle from the shop's own selection, and you can't bring your own. New dates come out every one to three months and most sell out, so the newsletter is the best way to get a seat. Google reviewers rate it 4.9 from 42 reviews.

No. The shop suggests a bottle from its own selection to pair with the menu, and any you don't finish is corked for you to take home.
There are no refunds. With a week's notice you can move to another class or get credit for a future one. Within 2 days of class, you can send someone else in your place.
