Garden-fed High Street cooking school with 40 new seasonal classes each season
The Seasoned Farmhouse is a boutique cooking school in an old building at 3674 North High Street in Columbus. Chef Tricia Wheeler opened it in 2013. She graduated first in her class at the French Culinary Institute in New York in 2009. Gardens on the property grow ingredients for classes, and there is an outdoor wood fire oven, a cookbook library and a small shop.
A team of local chef instructors puts on 40 new classes each season. There are four formats: hands-on, Chef's Table, Around the Island and demonstration. The fall menu is seasonal and leans European, with Sunday Sauce & Handmade Pasta, Julia Child's Beef Bourguignon Date Night and a Holiday Pie Workshop. Sue Berardi spent 30 years in her family's Italian restaurants on Lake Erie and now teaches pasta. Pastry chef Damaris Oldfield is also on the team.
Hands-on classes hold 12 to 14 students, and demos hold up to 25. Many dates fill up and move to a waitlist, so book early. The school has a 4.6 Google rating from 41 reviews.
