Grand Avenue kitchen store with a cooking school, teaching St. Paul cooks for 50+ years
Cooks of Crocus Hill is a locally owned kitchen store on Grand Avenue in St. Paul's Crocus Hill neighborhood. It has taught cooking for over 50 years. The Grand Ave shop is the flagship, with a cooking school kitchen alongside the cookware, a coffee lab and a crop share program. A second school runs in the North Loop of Minneapolis.
Every class is labeled Participation or Demonstration, so you know up front whether you'll cook or watch. Coming up in St. Paul: Liza Atkinson's Sunday Souper Star, which covers freezer-friendly batch soups, and Rebecca Pirtle's Great Bundt Bake-Off, a hands-on technical challenge in the style of the British baking show. Knife Skills, Sauté All Day and Brunch Time cover the basics. The How to Cook Series is a longer course that starts in January.
The school also runs private events, team building and one-on-one coaching with a chef instructor. For private groups, the St. Paul kitchen holds up to 50 guests, aprons are provided and everyone takes home the recipes.
